Add Helpawy to Shopify
Put your agent on every page of your Shopify store by adding one snippet to your theme. Duplicate your theme first, so you have a copy to go back to.
Steps
Copy your snippet
In Helpawy, open your agent’s Install tab and copy the code. Your agent’s own key is already in it.

On the same tab, under “Where it can appear”, add your store’s address. The chat only shows on websites listed there. www. and the bare address count as different websites, so add both if you use both.
Duplicate your theme
In Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes. Next to your current theme, open the ••• menu and select Duplicate.
Edit theme.liquid
Open the ••• menu again and select Edit code. Open the theme.liquid file, paste the code just before </body>, and select Save.
Check it’s working
Open your website in a new window. The chat button appears in the corner of every page. Ask it a question to try it.
Troubleshooting
- The chat button doesn’t appear.
- Check your website’s exact address is listed under “Where it can appear”, including www. if you use it, and that you published your site after adding the code.
- I updated my theme and the chat disappeared.
- Theme updates can replace your code edits. Add the snippet to theme.liquid again.
- I can’t edit my theme’s code.
- Paid themes have to be bought, not on trial, before you can edit their code.
- My store uses both myshopify.com and my own domain.
- Add every address customers use under “Where it can appear”.
- Can’t add code at all?
